That's a great scene! I love it. Funny as heck!
Bagel, you like spicy? Add some Tabasco to that hot chocolate on a cold day. That's how it was meant to be drank-ask the ancient peoples.

On that note there is a Mexican dish: Chicken with spicy chocolate (sauce). Very different.
ooh, Vincent, you speak of Mole'(with Hershey's chocolate syrup in the sauce, at least in my friend's authentic Mexican version).
Great stuff, of which I can no longer partake.

Vince,I may have to try that at least once, out of sheer curiosity.

I remember my mother telling a story about one day, during a marching band practice in high school. The band director had the kids practice while marching around the area of town that the school was in, and they were out a little too long. They heard the school bell in the distance indicating that that period was over. So they kind of marched/ran in step all the way back to the school with the drum section keeping time for them.

A party without cake is really just a meeting

That would chicken en mole (MO-lay) - muy bien! The sauce ("mole" actually means sauce so when you say "mole sauce" you are saying "sauce sauce" Wink ) is made with chocolate and chili and sometimes banana for thickening. I will find a good recipe and post it in the Mains.

MMMMM yum, I wish I had some now!

Marching Band is a cultish activity. It took me awhile to "get it." I think I do now, but I could never have done what those kids do. Incredible commitment!

Nettie,
are you allergic to chocolate or chili sauce?

VU you think the marching band thing takes commitment on TV during games, practice, etc...try watching those poor kids at a Mardi Gras parade, carrying their heavy racks of drums, tubas, etc. and tack on a 8-10 mile parade route! I'd pass out before we rounded the first corner!

My 1st marching band gig was a halftime for an LA Rams/Pittsburgh Steelers game. Fun. In my Junior year we were invited to march in the Rose Parade. Everyone was so excited-it was like the Holy Grail of Parades. Then we found out that the band director turned down the invite because he thought the 5 mile route was "too long" for us to march. We nearly lynched him. He didn't last long at our school.....

Oh no, nettie! No chocolate? Sad

I was never in marching band but I had a friend who was. The worst thing about it, according to her, was the VERY early morning practices. She, like me, was NOT a morning person Wink

I wasn't in the band, but I was on the drill team(sort of like the flag girls, but no flags). We also had early morning practices. It was the worst thing about it.

Wow, flashback Bagel!...my Dad used to wake us up on Saturdays with John Phillips Sousa blasting over the old phonograph! Made for a rude awakening, ala Ren & Stimpy or the Foghorn Leghorn one where he grabs the dog by the tail and beats him on the behind with a 2x4!!!

Here, I found it-enjoy everybody! Be prepared to laugh your A*$ off, I'm warning you!
