As mentioned earlier our music instructor never had a drummer in our student band. I desperately wanted to do it but, alas, a tight-faced Ms Smith was in no mood to have proper percussion in the band.

She always was kind of crusty. Not in a gentle crustiness that personified my paternal grandfather, but Ms Smith (yes, that was her name) was crusty right to her core.

I was never one in the "in-crowd" thing. That was, until it was discovered that I played drums. Suddenly everyone wanted to be my best friend. Bah. Nothing had changed about me, just their perception.

I should have enjoyed it. But I didn't. Frankly, it made me angry. Really cheesed me off.
