Loved the one with Mama Cass in it! What was really in those Scooby snacks? ![]() When I was really little, the "little kids" show that was popular (and aired at a really early hour) was "Romper Room". For some reason, I thought it was cool. Sesame Street, Mr. Rogers and The Electric Company were great too. I only watched those at my grandmas because we didn't get PBS at my house. A party without cake is really just a meeting |

"Raises a glass for Freddie"
The world is a lesser place today, but he taught us all not just about drumming but also about life. That kind of classy guy is so rare these days, yet so very special. Thank you for sharing your talent and your gifts with us all! For You Steve & Monica - Your Love will forever shine on in our hearts!!!

RE: You KNOW that Bubba's on here...
I just want to put my two cents in about Freddie. I got to meet Freddie a bunch of times and if ever the term "An Original" was well-coined it was for him. So many wonderful and funny stories. The people he met would fill a book.... Buddy Rich, Gene Krupa, Malcom X...And the places he's been. New York city in the big band days, playing with the greats and partying with the gangsters, molls and dolls. Oh...and he was some good at hitting things with sticks too. I'll miss you amigo but it was surely a life well-lived with no regrets. Happy trails...
Sacred cows make the best hamburgers. I bought a doughnut and they gave me a receipt for the doughtnut... I don't need a receipt for the doughnut. I give you money and you give me the doughnut, end of transaction. We don't need to bring ink and paper into this. I can't imagine a scenario that I would have to prove that I bought a doughnut. To some skeptical friend, 'Don't even act like I didn't get that doughnut, I've got the documentation right here... It's in my file at home. ...Under "D".' |

RE: You KNOW that Bubba's on here...
Saddened to hear the news that another bright spark has left our world, even if it was time for him to go.
![]() At the same time, it occurs to me that few of us would have appreciated the loss had Bubba not brought him forward into our collective consciousness, via his books and via video interviews; so while it is a sad day, sadder still would have been to have never known anything of him, of his character and talent, of his originality. To never have known what there was to be missed after today in the first place. I am sad for his friends and family, I know he will be missed. Thank you for introducing him and allowing the rest of us to come to know him a little as well, so that we also have some appreciation of what his loss means, even though it's much less personal for any of us. He will definitely never be forgotten even by those who never met him in person. |

I'm sorry to hear this. I don't know what to say. I suppose that we would never appreciate the joy in this world without the contrast of pain. I don't understand it but feel it just the same.
Bubba, his legacy continues with every stroke you play. "Wish I didn't know now what I didn't know then." "Try to catch the deluge in a paper cup." "Every new beginning comes from some other beginning's end." |

RE: You KNOW that Bubba's on here...
There is no televised broadcast or fanfare about him in the news... (It's out there if you seek it but not pronounced in the collective psyche of society)
It's sad how many of our citizens, myself included at times, know nothing about the great jazz tradition. It is a uniquely american invention. And it seems that there are so many branches of it; something for everyone. There is some I like very much and some that I can listen to for just a short time. The point is exposure. Start listening a little. Sirius XM has the 40's on 4. My favorite types of jazz. But I also like "cocktail" jazz in the right context, or even "smooth" jazz. New Orleans jazz is fun too! "Wish I didn't know now what I didn't know then." "Try to catch the deluge in a paper cup." "Every new beginning comes from some other beginning's end." |
