RE: You KNOW that Bubba's on here...
So I read all about Mr. Neil's trips. I want him to read about mine.
...Walked down to Riviera Drive 11754 (google earth it) tonight. brisk late autumn wind a blowin', rustling the trees that have yet to give up their leaves. The river rushing in like the winter. Nice after a glass of Pinot... So Bubba... Dude, they must be payin' you big to get on the road again. I know you totally dug Europe last tour, so have a blast this time around again. I want to read about it in the news. |

RE: You KNOW that Bubba's on here...
We are looking into hotels for the Chicago show April 12th. My wife wanted the Marriot....until she saw the room rate of $310/night. When we went to Minnesota we made it a weekender for her and I both. Left the kids home to fend for themselves while mommy and daddy went off to play. Thinking this might be another one of those mommy and daddy dates.

Boomer - try to stay someplace in the burbs. If you don't mind having to drive a little, you can stay 15 miles outside of downtown in a nice suburb for less than $100 per night. I'm lucky - I only live 2 hours from there, but I won't be able to go to the show because of the date. I highly recommend driving though. Don't try to park downtown either - the parking is absolutely outrageous. They will also charge an "amusement tax" on damn near anything you do in Chicago. I find it kind of amusing because Mayor Daley is always talking about ways to bring people downtown, but he makes it totally cost prohibitive to actually go there.

Would love to go see them in Chicago and we have a place to stay for free. But, just not in the cards this time due to finances and having an elderly relative living with us now.

Yeah Chicago is a diff beast entirely from a lot of towns. We'll see how it goes, but hotels are already looking to be a nightmare. The goal is to get somewhere close enough for my wife to drive in and pick me up (she just doesn't go to concerts much - health) and then far enough away to be able to zip outta town the next morning. We could drive back home, its only 4 hours drive, but that would put us getting back home about 3:30 or so. What helps is that my dad grew up there so getting around is not a hard thing. If I have to I can always take an alternate mode of transportation (my wifes broom is stored for the year) but we'll see. Thats still a long ways off, and I still have to figger out the ticket to the show first. For You Steve & Monica - Your Love will forever shine on in our hearts!!!

Gotta admit, though I love the band, I much more look forward to his books and updates. More inspirational bang for the buck, though I like to see them. By the way Neil, please do not put them in a compilation book (which I would buy) and not release a new adventure, even if it's relatively brief; like Dickens' A Christmas Carol. I love the travel logs. It's like your "Zen" in writing right now but I sense there is a deeper work and I'm not sure what that looks like, but I know it will be very good, on a grand scale... More writing and recording without a doubt... But who am I to say anyway? There are as many opinions as there are perspectives. No matter what you choose will succeed on some level. Most of us are standing on the sidelines doing our thing, but not creating the way do. You and the guys are riding a crest right now. RUSH has become a household name. You, my friend will always have an audience. Bravo... I know that your 8th grade teacher (you know the one) would be very proud. It's very inspiring; feeds that small flame inside. Maybe I'll record that song I wrote. "The Ballad of Larry and Suzie." MSG Baby! |

As much as I like reading Neil's stuff, I'd rather see him on stage, and unless something changes,(like some tour dates later in June) I won't this time. I can't get away from work.
