RE: You KNOW that Bubba's on here...
Funny seeing the Stephen King reference, and then thinking of "Number one fans".
There was a female comedian on TV over here the other day and she was talking about being out with her family (this must make it especially harder as I guess if you are in the business then some of it goes with the Kingdom, but family members must surely be exempt), and a (number one) fan insisted on a posed photo, and would not take no for an answer. Pretty Bad. My experiences with rock stars - I met Bev Bevan of ELO at Brum International, almost nearly bumped into one another, I said, "Hi - you`re Bev Bevan arent you?" he said "Yeah", I might have said something like "Nice one - have a good flight" and we were both gone - I guess because I didnt need a photo or autograph. I have also met Andy Timmons and Simon Phillips at a back stage party after a gig - Andy Timmons - although clearly a brilliant guitar player asked me if I thought his playing was good that night, (musicians insecurity??), and when he heard I was there with Jan Cyrka was visably "oh no dont tell me Jan was here". I had been with Jan all after noon and didnt know who he was - other than he had his own recording studio and made a small fortune doing the music to a recent Tampax add - after a range of people came up to him in fawning respect, and were later introduced as "Marshall amps sales director", "Fender Europe sales manager" "Ibanez technical manager" etc I realised he must be important. He said Simon Phillips had asked him to play in the band but he had turned him down - I said turning down Simon Phillips was a big move - and asked who he was, he says Jan Cyrka and his stage name used to be "Flash B*stard". He sent me an album later and he is a major guitar player, highly respected by Steve Vai and Joe Satriani. All afternoon I had no idea, there was no hint of the guy. He even made me a cup of tea, and we joked about Cockney slang for Piles, "My Chalfonts" - Chalfont St Giles - Piles As opposed to a mate of mine who saw Ritchie Blackmore, went up to him and siad "Hi are you Ritchie Blackmore?" and Ritchie turned to him and merely said, "F#CK OFF" |
