I've experienced the deep meditation associated with shoveling snow and ice along with running a physical groove that keeps me from injuring myself. I was actually content to spend the days after Christmas clearing the white stuff. Now we just track salt into the house. I usually get all over the house which has been pointed out and noted... Wow! With all the cheese-we went nuts on exotics- and chocolate of every type of cake, cookies (Italian lemon-yum, and I don't always like lemon, sugar, chocolate chip, gingerbread), banana cream pie, Irish Cream, my failed Antiguan Garlic Pork (posting to eventually go on that desolate thread-too salty and dry-an edible "jerky" if one were starving on an 18th century arctic expedition) prosciutto, coconut crusted almond figs, pickled olives and peppers, fresh bread, and nice red wines ( not my 30 bottles of Pinot Noir (see wine-making; which does not taste good at all right now unless accompanied with a can of Sprite); I think we need a night out. The kids left on a retreat with their friends and it's just "us" for about three days. Tonight we're going to grab Thai up the block where you can "bring your own." We recruited a couple of neighbors to come along. It has nice atmosphere and well prepared dishes in addition to excellent service by the owner. Best part is the moderate cost and saving significantly on the wine. Time for some exotic spice. Growl...... |
