RE: Had my first "Measure of the Macallan" last night
...and coming back to topic:
After trying quite a few new ones lately, I came back to The Macallan 12 Saturday. It was was even better than I remembered. My palate has become more edge-a-ma-cated recently and I was pleased to feel much more comfortable with the 12...previously it had seemed a bit too "big." It was delightful (and went along very well with the Rocky Patel Royal Vintage I was smoking). It also went along well with the "Lamb Lies Down on Broadway" in my Denons! The Date: May 12 2012.
The Time: Approximately 8:15 Central. The Location: Theresa WI (most noteably - Mr. & Mrs. 2Beers garage). A moment in time that I shall never forget... |

RE: Had my first "Measure of the Macallan" last night
Had a new (to me) wonderful dram tonight at my Dufftown-born MIL's -- she went to the same store in Nassau I visited (and found the 1997 Bunnahabhain to bring back), but she got a 1993 Glendullan.
If you read some of the reviews of it, it doesn't sound promising, but this is yet another of the Murray McDavid bottlings, at 46% alcohol, bourbon and tempranillo casks, finished in Rioja ones. Gorgeous colour -- like well-finished oak -- and a rich and complex nose. I put a wee bit of cool water into mine, and it made a huge difference in the complexity and warmth of the various notes. Yummy! ---- I'm not one to believe in magic, but I sometimes have a second-sight.... |

A new one for me:
GlenTaite bottling of a 19 year old The Macallan. It was a b-day gift from my mom. (I believe it was purchased at Sam's Club.) Delightful! Very complex! I have only had two drams so far and hope to give more of a review the next time I sample it. "I don't cook; I prepare things." My late brother Bill |

Kinda agree with Nung. Cask is just straightforward as you can be.
