RE: Birds and Butterflies
Glad to hear you're a hedgerow fan! Seems like most (Americans, anyway) have no idea what they are.... I will take a look in the gardening thread too! Smile

RE: Birds and Butterflies
Happy IMBD everyone! Had a nice weekend spotting a few LYJ's (little yellow jobs) passing through town on their way north. More info here:

Keep looking up!

RE: Birds and Butterflies
After a relatively short and easy winter here in southern NH, the black bears are on the move. Those pesky desperadoes are assaulting bird feeders far and wide in their never-ending search for calories. This past weekend had one trying to climb the side of the house in an attempt to get at a small plastic feeder stuck to the dining room window. At least they are staying away from the barn and terrorizing the livestock (poor bunnies and sheep).

Season's Greetings!

Sighted a Scarlet Tanager on a dirt back road Monday afternoon. Don't see those too often around here.

Tonight's nature walk around the pond netted a baby porcupine eating milk weed, a raccoon investigating a beaver lodge, many ducks, and yes - I counted five beavers out on patrol. No black bear, lovely moon rise.

Season's Greetings!

RE: Birds and Butterflies
I watched my hummingbirds fight over the sugar water I put out for them! Man those buggers really fight over that stuff! I wonder when they will migrate, because its been cool in the mornings here, and I think they migrate to somewhere? Who knows?

Trying to save the day for the Old World Man!

RE: Birds and Butterflies
A few weeks ago we had a few coyotes yipping and howling in the farm field on the north side of our house. They scampered in to the neighbors tree line.
