Those clipless pedals are great for aligning your knee in the least-resistant or least-painful way.

I agree with you CanyonDancer, but look what he said above, "or (heaven forbid) become a pushbike guy?"

I'm pretty sure pushbike is an old way of saying a bicycle. So maybe some sports rivalry or something, I am a runner and you curse you cyclists, I'll never join your miserable lot! Rolleyes

I like cycling because the mosquitoes can't keep up with you, I stop to rest a moment and they come swooping down for the attack, then I ride away leaving them all behind. Wink

I like Italian food and Italian roadsters

RE: Change of season
The season I'm looking forward to is next spring, when I quit couch-surfing and house-sitting, and get a place of my own again. Travelling this year has been the right choice, but I'm aching to have a real address, instead of a post office box and a storage locker.

(and to start stocking the wine cellar again)

RE: Change of season
Scythe...we're on the same page. The day after my little bombshell I started walking on an incline treadmill. I can burn my usual 500-700cal every morning in roughly the same amount of time without too much discomfort. It's certainly not the same, but we do what we must. Perhaps "the next level" is simply accepting the situation, as well as adapting to and overcoming it. The more things change, the more they stay the same eh?

CD...that may be the upshot alright. I've got a lot of riding/racing buddies totally into the cycling scene. They've been sending me craiglist ads for the latest greatest pushbikes for days now. Maybe they're right, but then again...those weirdos shave their legs and think they look cool in their pink kit.Rolleyes Btw, looks like we have a lot in common with the OA and ACL reconstruction thing. At least we know when it's gonna rain huh?

Rey...very insightful. My "heaven forbid" comment was semi tongue-in-cheek, but semi serious too. I've spent the last quarter century riding public roads, hurling epithets and shaking my fist at inconsiderate cyclists who think they're special. I'd have to eat a lot of crow if I started cycling, but...uh...it sure wouldn't be the first time.Big Grin

Thanks for the replies and food for thought...

Oh, that's great! Yes, we all have to make allowances. I'm just now getting back to my walking regimen - recovering from a head-on accident that broke my sternum and 3 ribs - and it's irritating to have to take it easy, still. Yes, we must adapt and overcome. *sigh*

But we do have one another for encouragement here! Big Grin

Well I hope it all goes OK - Are you meeting Brutus in YYZ??

Where you in a car when you had this collision (or like our favourite auther Steve King) out for a walk.

I see Steve purchased the pick up which nearly killed him - nice touch of the macabre.......

RE: Change of season
I would LOVE to meet Brutus in YYZ if I go. (Hear that, Boss?)

I was a passenger in the car. A confused old lady was out driving and turned into our lane. We didn't see her until a few seconds before we hit because of a curve. There was a creek with a guardrail on our right and oncoming traffic on the left. Thank goodness it was an elderly lady driving slowly rather than a speeding teen in a pick-up or the like. Undecided

Uncle Stevie bought the van that hit him because he didn't want it to be dismantled and sold as some kind of sick souvenir. Can't say I blame him....

*update*

Just completed the 3wk hyaluronic acid(euphlexxa) shot regimen. Wasn't fun, but it wasn't shear brutality either.

Nursie: You're tensing up and pulling away!

Me: I believe that is an instinctively natural reaction when someone is jabbing a needle deep into my knee madam.

Hope this works...
