Old Dudes Who Rock!
This thread is dedicated to old rockin' dudes.
I'll start by saying that the half time show at the Superbowl with Roger and Pete rocked the world. Some critics were like "give it up already" but I say keep playin' till you die! I wanted to see more of them and less of football. Granted it wasn't the same as when I saw them as a teen in "The Kids Are Alright" or in 1982 at Shea Stadium with The Clash as a warm up band, but damn they rocked for pushin' 70! I hope the boys stick to it as well. Hey maybe not touring forever, but maybe just continuing to write and record great music. Think about it. That's when The Beatles wrote their best stuff! |

RE: Old Dudes Who Rock!
Anybody recall the CNN interview the boys did a couple weeks back? They were talking another ten years if they could do it. Hey - if you can still do it, why not. I mean....it aint like looking at Mick Jagger or Alice Cooper! Those are some dried up hard core old dudes.
Look at folks like Neal Schon or BB King, even Buddy Guy. Then there are folks like Santana, Robert Plant, even Styx and Reo Speedwagon (or whats left of them) is still out there. But - IMHO, you cannot beat The Boys. One of my favorite ones is David Gilmour. I dont care what anybody says - that guy kicks booty every time, and he does it so effortlessly. I think him and Bubba are almost from the same mold - they play the same, have the same work ethic, even the look on their face when they play is rock solid. For You Steve & Monica - Your Love will forever shine on in our hearts!!!

I would tend to agree.....if he would just smile at the drum set ONCE IN A WHILE!!! I know it hurts, but at least make an effort.

RE: Old Dudes Who Rock!
Paul Rogers, Ian Paice, Simon Kirke, ........its sad, most of my favourite bands and musicians are from the 60`s and 70`s......nothing has come along since to grab my attention. Modern music, Death, Thrash, Brutal, sick...I dont even understand the words which describe it, let alone the music itself. What with Brutal Gravity Blast Beats..........I have seen drummers doing this.......it seems like lets see how fast I can hit all the drums at once....with all my limbs.....I dont get it.........it has no rhythm......no style.........nothing.........yet it is the music of the kids.....and I am now officially a Grumpy Old Man.

I love the hardcore crunch of Hatebreed and Pro-pain. But I agree that some of the new "blastbeat" stuff is just stupid. Don't talk smack about Total!! |

Welcome to MY NIGHTMARE Mr. Grumpy Old Man! Its the in thing to listen to stuff like that. I get the same way with rap music as well as all this death metal garbage. I dont mind a little heavy metal now and again, but its hard to listen to the same note over....and over.....and over....and over....ad infinitum for about 8 minutes and then some idiot on the radio says "thats just cool music". If I want to listen to something like that, I'll go watch an NHRA drag race. It might be the same note but its a lot cooler to watch. RE: Old Dudes Who Rock!
They have discovered how to play a decent single stroke roll, between snare and ride. My hero.
But .. Some are seriously good. Not that I don't agree with exactly what your saying. However, I'll take deathmetal over a obnoxious boyband any day. Don't talk smack about Total!! |

So, between the death metal on one side of the house and Johnny Jonas Brothers on the other, I am home long enough to eat, then its off on the Harley to avoid all that noise noise noise noise!
Oh wait - they have Ipods....so its quiet right now.....shhhhhhhhh! For You Steve & Monica - Your Love will forever shine on in our hearts!!!
