Happy 'Bastille Day' everybody!...hmmm, and it coincides with the 1976 anniversary of the release of 'All the World's a Stage' too! I bet Bubba had something to do with that!

RE: Continually Off Thread
Over in the Gardening thread, NWo mentioned that his wife tried to use copper plating to mitigate a slug issue. I was thinking that if someone tried to do that here, the addicts would come steal it! That's a huge problem around the SLC area...folks stealing recyclable materials for drug money. Copper tubing out of A/C units on top of the schools, wiring from construction sites, etc. Man, how desperate do you have to be to risk your life playing around electricity?
Do you guys have this where you are? Love and respect... Turn up the music and smile! "Adventures..." |

RE: Continually Off Thread
There is a load of copper cable stealing (electricity generation, train signalling etc)and a lot of lead off Church roofs, but it is not drug addicts, just scumbags looking to make a quick buck without working for it. A few (the electricity generation thefts) which result in the thief being fried.
Not sure what Druggies do to get their fix, but probably they can claim for it under some EU Human Rights Law......... I saw a very disturbing programme on drugs in Ireland - where the former paramilitary still hold sway. If a child (youngish teenager) is a drug dealer - the paramilitary "invite" the family, (parents) to hand over the teenager for punishment which is usually a low calibre round to both elbows, both knees, and both feet. The say if you don`t hand them over, then it will be a larger calibre round to a more vital place........ A Father was saying "it was the most painful thing he had ever done to hand his son over for this punishment". Well, were it me, and accepting drug dealing is an horrendous crime, there is no way I would hand a child of mine over for that. PS: If you ever need knee surgery - I gather to get the operation in Ireland is a guarantee of success, because of the practice the surgeons have had there.. She looked at me and rolled those big brown eyes and said, "Oh, I would do it all for you, `cos you`re a Rocker" |

The only way Chuck can be "passed over" is if he chooses to abdicate: I'm sure there will be people who think he should, after having married Camilla. Surely there are gnomes both in Buck House and No. 10 mulling that possibility, but certainly HM isn't going anywhere soon, and despite the odd scare, Philip looks to be hanging in rather well for 91. (You think she looks fragile? Really? I hope I look that good at her age. Or even now....)

There has been various media talk that William will pick it up, although constitutionally I don`t know how or whether that is possible. Quote:but certainly HM isn't going anywhere soon No - I gather she sees this as her duty and her job - probably until she breaths her last breath. Quote:Philip looks to be hanging in rather well for 91 I definitely think Phil the Greek is looking frail - but as you say for someone 91 he is pretty amblutory. Quote:You think she looks fragile I did I must admit - but as you say to be that active at her age, well.........something to hope for. Personally I am not sure I will make it.......so.... That's happening everywhere. Scrap metal prices are very high and jobs are scarce. It's too bad, too, because some people are stripping statues, churches, memorials... anything with copper, brass, bronze or even iron. *sigh* ... in a world where I feel so small I can't stop thinking big! |

RE: Continually Off Thread
I'm working a special project today, as my niece announced her wedding date to the family this weekend. It's TOMMORROW!
So I'm making her a little keepsake to take with her to the JP. The Groundhog lied. |
