-going to my Grandma's and Aunts house to mow lawn and get paid with carrot cake
-sitting in my parents 1978 Suburban on a warm summer night eating an ice cream cone the size of a mountain as my dad tours the countryside. The smell of mown hay and corn on the breeze.
-picking up the peppers and beets that have fallen off the trucks headed to the cannery a few blocks away
-shelling peanuts adn drinking a Coke watching Etchie Beirtzer, Billy Johnson and Mike Mielius race modifieds on the dirt at Slinger with my dad.
-sledding on the hill by school
-trudging through the swamps duck hunting with my dad
-and watching my little girls run around the house in their duckie slippers

It's always the little things, isn't it? Smile

So yes quick and clean, but the chance to say bye and I love you would be good too. Maybe you should try to always do this daily and therefore poeple know if you don`t get the chance?

I've started living by that, in fact, without getting maudlin about it.

Amen. Quick is better for the person we lose but for us... well.... I was able to say goodbye to my Grandmother but both my Grandfather (her husband) and my Mom went not only quickly but unexpectedly.

Neither way is easier or harder, just different. Sad

... in a world where I feel so small I can't stop thinking big!

RE: What Do You Miss?
A quick note to say thank you - sincerely, for the outpouring of concern and condolences offered by our group here at BB&G.
I am still a bit stunned by all of the things that I have had to deal with over the past week, but I can say with all honesty that the notes, calls and cards that I received from all of you here were well received, and truly appreciated.
Perhaps at a later time, I will share what I wrote about my mom, and delivered in front of all attending. It was the toughest read I ever had to get through. I have read and re-read the cards and notes and posts, and I have reminded myself time and again that there are people that affect our lives - even though you may never have seen them face to face. I thank you all for that.

Sorry to read your news Mufasa..

Thinking of you and your family from over here in the UK.

She looked at me and rolled those big brown eyes and said, "Oh, I would do it all for you, `cos you`re a Rocker"

RE: What Do You Miss?
I strongly second what Boomer just said. And though we are all equal here at the B&G, I think of you as a beacon to look up to. Thanks and peace to you M. My little shoulder is always here.

RE: What Do You Miss?
Mufasa, I am so sorry. We shouldn't have to endure that kind of pain...for me it felt like that electric numbing pain if you've ever been punched in the nose...except its not your nose that feels it...its your soul. Take your time healing Brother. Love/Prayers, Lanix
