Composing your submissions as attachments

I can see posting attachments for a huge article But for most forum readers it would be a hassle to have to click an attachment to read a post. Now if it's a long one like an update from Bubba then I could see putting it in a PDF or Word. The forum should be able to handle 1000 or so active members at one time without slowing down.
