Warm-Fuzzy Stuff
Over the years, I have been in several cover bands, and a couple of "serious" ones as well.
Somehow, mostly due to pleading on my part, my pal David always wound up in the group with me. Every single one.
Lunatic. Tender-hearted bad a$$. Incredible guitar player. Good friend.
David was all of these. I got a call a few years ago from another former band mate in Savannah, telling me that David had had a massive heart attack, and died. He was 43. I was devastated. I cannot remember being that angry and hurt over losing a friend. Angry at... what exactly? Hurt because... why most?

I gathered hours of video that had accumulated over the years; three or four different bands worth. I set clips to music, and posted them to YouTube for my old band mates and for friends that new Dave.
A few nights ago, my youngest daughter called and said, "Daddy - look at your Facebook messages. (which I never do - I just use it to keep track of my girls). I asked her why, and she tells me that, "Your friend - David... the crazy one in all of your bands, had a son - and he's in my school. He's my friend, and he knows that you're my dad."
"What?"
"Dad - Davey saw your videos of his dad - David was his dad! He wants to talk you."

So - last night, I sat and spoke with the son of a dear and loved friend.
When it was over, and I was safe in my room, I wept like a child, and missed my friend.

You signed the contract - you must do my bidding

Mufasa, I am so sorry for your loss! That is really neat though that you'll still have that connection with his son.

Mufasa so sorry for you loss but, what a wonderful and thoughtful way to remember your friend. Your actions have made a way for his son to always remember him along with your other friends and bandmates.

RE: Warm-Fuzzy Stuff
Sometimes things happen for a reason, and then sometimes they dont. I believe it isnt just happenstance that his son saw those videos, but maybe something a little bit better. Grief can take many forms, and sometimes letting go of that grief can be so difficult. Just ask a mutal friend of the forum that one. I mean.....55,000 miles on a motorcycle? In his case he found a way to come back, and I quote "...from the darkest place anyone could ever come from...".

Maybe this is a fork in the road, a path destined for both you and his son. Find the positives, and feel blessed that you can share your love for David with his son. Its ok to grieve.....because the loss of even one life is tragic beyond words, but maybe....just maybe......this is a gift you can cherish and find comfort in.

For You Steve & Monica - Your Love will forever shine on in our hearts!!!
