The Evening Star Cafe
In the Del Ray section of Olde Towne Alexandria, Virginia. I used to live near this place, and ate there at least once each week. The food (contemporary American fare...think roast chicken with thyme, or my fav- Beef tenderloins with portabella gravy) is simply delicious, and fresh. The atmosphere is quite cozy, and the lounge upstairs and the bar downstairs are great place to chill. The place is connected to the Daily Planet wine store, so their wine list is extensive and excellent. Next time you're in DC, check it out.
Those who forget the pasta are condemned to reheat it. |

RE: The Evening Star Cafe
Sounds dee-lish Tempus.
My wife (affectionately nicknamed "Cujo") took a girlfriend trip to DC a couple of years ago. I have a picture of her about to inhale a raw oyster at one of the local eateries. Funny thing is, I'm from the southeast coast of Georgia... grew up literally on the ocean - and I won't eat a raw oyster. She would eat no seafood whatsoever when we met in 1998, and now she will eat a raw oyster!!! Ick. I'll stick with the "everything but that" platter, please.... and a Sam Adams. You signed the contract - you must do my bidding

RE: The Evening Star Cafe
I better be plenty-o-trashed to down a raw oyster. I have had just about everything else that lives in the ocean, but for some reason oysters taste more like regurgitated cow snot. And about the same consistency too I'd think.
I dont know how I know that - some things are like the tides.....let it be. For You Steve & Monica - Your Love will forever shine on in our hearts!!!
