How much do you usually tip?

Tipping is something that I've had to learn how to do after I graduated and started dining out with friends and not my folks.
When I was growing up, I don't recall Kentucky Fried Chicken ever expecting a tip. I remember, after getting married, being surprised that my husband tipped the barber after haircuts. I had never heard of doing that, or tipping after massages or pedicures etc. I don't go to those places very often even now, so knowing how much to tip for those rare treats is still something I'm learning.
