RE: Bubba on David Letterman Show
Very nice and I have to say he has the best horn section of any drum solo I've heard!
The two time signatures that he plays between his feet and his hands is very difficult to understand, yet so easy to appreciate and enjoy. Bravo!

RE: Bubba on David Letterman Show
Might be me, but I don`t think Bubba was too pleased with his performance on Letterman. I managed to see it on YT.
She looked at me and rolled those big brown eyes and said, "Oh, I would do it all for you, `cos you`re a Rocker" |

I managed to see it on YT.Didn't see it live but also saw the Youtube clip, and I have to agree with my friend NWoBHM. We're all used to seeing Neil look kinda grim when he's playing. It's damn hard work, no wonder he looks like he's concentrating. But his body language at the end of the solo says it all. He kept his head down, held his hands and sticks over his head and seemed very hesitant to shake hands with Letterman at the end of the show. It's also an entirely different solo than the Time Machine solo, which surprised me. Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. RE: Bubba on David Letterman Show
I'm actually a little disappointed....not in Bubba's performance, but in Dave Letterman. You could tell Bubba didnt seem very happy about all that, but I think to put him at the tail end of the show and only give him a few minutes to show off them skills is just not enough. I almost got the impression Bubba felt just a little rushed to get in SOMETHING in a show that seemed to concentrate more on Neil Harris. Personally I would have liked to have seen a bit more of the solo effort and a lot less of that "other" Neil.
The solo itself was great - but I believe he should have been given a little more time. Agree with NW though. For You Steve & Monica - Your Love will forever shine on in our hearts!!!

I have seen the body language before, at the end of the first Buddy Rich memorial - (I personally thought it was a splendid performance) but later read Bubba was very disappointed in himself that night.

I remember seeing that performance as well, and thought he did a fine job, but sometimes we are our own worst critics, and only we know how the performance actually went. In his case, his pursuit of perfection is admirable - thats why we love him so much, eh?

RE: Bubba on David Letterman Show
I prefer my low standards, that way I am never disappointed!!
I read Buddy Rich was the same, if he felt the performance was no good, he would kick everything in sight back stage, and have to live with it until he could do a show he was happy with next time around. She looked at me and rolled those big brown eyes and said, "Oh, I would do it all for you, `cos you`re a Rocker" |

RE: Bubba on David Letterman Show
We saw it on YT last night as well. My husby and I both thought that it was a great performance. Husby was a bit disappointed that Letterman didn't interview Bubba a little bit, but then again, Letterman very rarely interviews his musical guests. Still though, a great performance.

RE: Bubba on David Letterman Show
He is so hard on himself, maybe that's why he is so good. Without trying to sound like a buttkisser, there was nothing in that solo to be feeling down about. I am glad just to have seen that little bit. Every portion is a bonus at this point.
