RE: Bubba on David Letterman Show
I thought the Shampoo bit was kinda funny, but who knows how he may have taken it.
I had some thoughts as I watched that I would have been reluctant to share here for fear that it would be interpreted as negative, but you all paved the way so here goes. "You KNOW Bubba's on here!" Bubba, you are too hard on yourself! I heard that unintentional rim shot on the tom early into the solo and I could FEEL your efforts to move past it with the remainder of your playing. I too noticed your body language and facial expressions at the end. Heck, even Letterman was serious...but it was great, trust me. I wouldn't lie to you. It was great. WE ALL WERE SO PROUD OF YOU!!!!!!! Even when you make a mistake you're in a league of your own. I'm CHALLENGING YOU to take a step back and reflect on your skill and accomplishments! Who is asked to close out "Drum Week" on David Letterman? You lived up to everything one could possibly expect. The audience went nuts over your jazz licks and crossovers. Be content with yourself. Gio and I stayed up (on a school night) until 12:35 to see you and went to bed pleased. You did a fantastic job! It was worth it! I just wished you had called... I would have met you for lunch. "Wish I didn't know now what I didn't know then." "Try to catch the deluge in a paper cup." "Every new beginning comes from some other beginning's end." |
