RE: Umm...
Yeah, Mufasa, I know our buds do have a wee bit of a following. Fame, even. What did Ged call themselves? The world's most popular cult band? Something like that.

So I certainly don't expect top-drawer seats every time. Certainly not a grip & grin every time (though I know people who've been fortunate enough to meet Lerxst & Dirk a few times). I've done pretty much what you outline on plenty of occasions but just don't seem to have that much luck.

Once - just once - I'd like floors somewhere within the first 3 or 4 rows for myself, my brother and his wife, and to meet the guys. Just once.

Losers visualize the results of failure and live in fear.
Winners visualize the results of success and live in abundance.

RE: Umm...
Trust me the concert fairies graced us this last time and for once in all the years we've gone got excellent seats(3rd row in the middle section). Mind you we paid for them and then almost missed seeing them(our big adventure w/ Boomer), but it was worth it and we wouldn't have changed a thing(ok maybe getting the car towed and then the bill to fix it).

If you can't play by OUR rules take your toys and go home!! [Image: rulez.gif]

RE: Umm...
The closest I've ever gotten was 7th row(last year when I met 2Beers(1 and 2). I had a friend who had 3 computers and his iphone up searching for tickets, and I bought them from him. Otherwise I would have been back on the lawn, as usual.

RE: Umm...
Pfffft. Im with OHR. I try and try, and I always end up with the sucky seats....but there was the Chicago show where some gal was attempting to remove her clothes during the show. Kinda hard to concentrate on the show when you got one going on behind you!

RE: Umm...
Husby has set a goal for us to get front row seats (or close to it) for the next time!

RE: Umm...
I have always had a front or second row seat for almost every show I have attended during the last 35 years.

In the 'old days' I slept on the sidewalk all night in front of the ticket store while listening to blithering idiots party all night in the parking lot and get so drunk that they didn't know why they were there the next morning, and they were in no shape to get in line for tickets!

Then, everything changed in the mid 80's when we could charge on the phone with our credit cards. That didn't last long because Ticketmaster came along in no time.

Since the big ticket companies started to rule the world of concerts, I only buy my front row seats from ticket brokers. These guys are capitalists and I should probably not have a thing to do with them. But, they have the seat that I want! Front Row Center.

I wish the fans could take back the front rows from the brokers. How could we do that?

I'd be willing to sleep on the sidewalk again! (Even though I'm in my fifties).

RE: Umm...
Patty, I'm with you. My Hubby used to wait in those lines and we ended up with seats in the first 5 rows for Rush, Genesis, Yes....

But now, it's next to impossible. I stayed up all night for the pre-sale for the Gorge, was buying tix within a minute and still ended up 15 rows back and off to the side. For Vancouver, it was even worse; I stayed up all night again and was on the Live Nation site the second tix went on sale. But ALL of the seats in the front rows (15 forward) were unavailable. I ended up with row 32. Happily, an online friend fixed me up with a row 4 seat but I sat apart from my family. I wish we could take the good seats from the brokers, too.

... in a world where I feel so small I can't stop thinking big!

RE: Umm...
^^^But HOW?

First off, I think we need to get rid of people like ME! (I can't believe I said that).

We're supporting the brokers. I pay $600+ for each front row ticket. After the cost of airline tickets, rental cars, hotel rooms and meals, each show on the road costs me about $1000.

And it's worth every penny!

RE: Umm...
I think those at those venues where there is high demand, those front rows go rather quickly. This might happen at the first few shows of the tour, whichever one they are recording, the shows on weekends, Madison Square Garden, etc.
I was dreaming about maybe going to the Phoenix show, and looked at tickets online for quite a while before realizing I couldn't do it. However, there were still floor seats available for weeks after they went on sale. I think it really depends on which show you are going to and what the demand for it is.
