Edinburgh and Gravy
My son, sister in law, husband and his best friend with to Edinburgh this past December for Hogmany. We had long delays in security at the airports due to the Christmas Day clown whom wanted to blow up the plane in Detroit.

Anyway, I had my two year old son, two suitcases trying to climb the steep streets of the Royal Mile during the worst cold snap in the UK in 30 years. I for one was STARVING..!! and my son Liam was none too happy either. We rented an apartment because it was cheap and we wanted a kitchen to cook in.

The closest place that was open at that time of night was a place called The Clam Shell, "by the way they don't have clams". I ordered french fries "crisps." Well, the chips had the gravy on it. It was the best thing I had eaten in years. The gravy was ....there are no words to describe it.

I ate those fries with gravy almost daily. The gravy was the secret and I WANT THAT gravy recipe. The boys at the Clam Shell were super sweet and because we are American we were sort of a novelty for them. They never let us wait for our food and when either of us walked in, they would personally come up and move us to the front of the line.

I should have used my "mad ninja woman skills' and asked for the recipe for the gravy but I didn't.
