RE: The Trees of Mystery
Been to Muir Woods, just north of SF. Big trees you have out west! Camera's a great idea, wide angle all the way.

Haha! I can't spill the beans on something I was clueless about! LOL
Someone else must must have told! I will post pictures of the trip when I get back. It'll be in about 3-4 weeks. A party without cake is really just a meeting |

You know I luv you baby! I wouldn't do anything to hurt ya! But that is only on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Remember? We talked about this, I explained it all to you. The rest of the week I am very, very busy, doing big important secret things. And ladies, please keep your voices down, if ladijules, Burma, Debskis, or Gunga catch wind of this, I am really gonna be in a tight spot! Yours Truly, Rey I like Italian food and Italian roadsters |

See, I noticed. Think it over Burma. I didn't mean it. Didn't you read the forum rules? You are not supposed to go off topic in the threads. Or kill people. RE: The Trees of Mystery
We finally went on the trip to see the Trees of Mystery. We left on Friday for our annual Fall drive, a bit earlier than in the past. Usually we leave in the afternoon, stop for some fries at McDonald's, and lattes at a local coffee stand. However, this year, we left in the morning, and we bought the kids some donuts and hot cocoa (breakfast of champions on a special trip!). We started off through the hilly country near our town.....
http://www.flickr.com/photos/30255666@N0...hotostream http://www.flickr.com/photos/30255666@N0...otostream/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/30255666@N0...otostream/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/30255666@N0...otostream/ Then we headed toward an area called Triangle Lake.... http://www.flickr.com/photos/30255666@N0...otostream/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/30255666@N0...otostream/ From there, we arrived in Mapleton, where we noticed that a bar called "Franks Place" had this invite above it's door.. http://www.flickr.com/photos/30255666@N0...otostream/ We then arrived in Florence (I have no pictures as we didn't see the ocean until we drove further South). However once we arrived in Gold Beach, the photo ops were more frequent. http://www.flickr.com/photos/30255666@N0...otostream/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/30255666@N0...otostream/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/30255666@N0...otostream/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/30255666@N0...otostream/ At one point my daughter asked my husband, "When you planned how long our trip would take, did you factor in time for all of Mom's photo ops?" He said, "no", but he was a good sport and would pull over so that I could take pics (and he sometimes would get out and take some with his phone). We stayed in Crescent City, CA, in a hotel that probably needed new mattresses on the beds. I didn't sleep at all and my husby didn't sleep well either. On the upside, the room did have a separate room with two beds for the kids, and a kitchenette for a reasonable price. I think that in the future though, we'll stick with a Best Western or a Holiday Inn. For our meal out, we ate at The Pizza King where they still toss the pizza dough when making the pizzas. Both kids were fascinated with that as they hadn't see that before. The next morning, we stopped at Seaside Espresso, for our morning coffee. This place also offered haircuts if we needed them. The barber/barista! LOL So, onto the Trees of Mystery........ http://www.flickr.com/photos/30255666@N0...otostream/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/30255666@N0...otostream/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/30255666@N0...otostream/ Everywhere we walked, our son had to read every sign we came across. They have a Sky Trail gondola/cable car which we rode to the top (and in which we realized that our daughter has a fear of heights and was afraid that our car would drop off of the cable. Our son absolutely loved the ride though). View from the top: http://www.flickr.com/photos/30255666@N0...otostream/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/30255666@N0...otostream/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/30255666@N0...otostream/ Some of the wood carvings: http://www.flickr.com/photos/30255666@N0...otostream/ Driving back to Crescent City, we stopped at the beach one more time: http://www.flickr.com/photos/30255666@N0...otostream/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/30255666@N0...hotostream By the time we were back in Oregon, it was dark and we started looking for a place to eat. One thing that we noticed along the coastline were the number of casinos, and they were all offering reasonably priced buffets, so we thought that we'd stop at one for dinner. We stopped at Seven Feathers casino, in Canyonville, OR (about an hour for for the caged fights were set to start----great entertainment for the kids! LOL). It's probably the closest my kids have ever been to setting foot in a bar, and one that allows indoor smoking. None of our friends or family smoke, so that was a new experience for them. So we go to the buffet, and my husby tells the cashier that there are four of us for the buffet, she happily rings us up and says, "That'll be $71.96". Well that was about $50 more than we had expected to spend. So we didn't stay, and waited until we arrived in our town and ate at a Hometown Buffet. That wound up being rather spendy too, and now they charge extra if you want to drink something other than water (and if you ordered water, you are not allowed to try a sip of your child's Icee when they offer it to you. The waiters/waitresses will see and reprimand you). So, I don't think that my husby or I will be eating there until we qualify for the Senior discount and go without our kids. So today we're hanging out at home, and I have this urgent need to get everything put away and cleaned. A party without cake is really just a meeting |
