A great start to the new year for me.There is a soup thread, but I don't know if any would meet your needs, unless you zip them through the blender! Soup thread The Groundhog lied. |

RE: Love Food But Need To Lose Weight
Thanks guys, it's getting close now. Soup thread, perfect! Thanks for the link. The next big hurdle will be the optifast diet for about 3.5 weeks. Not sure when that is but it's going to be a tough one. Nothing at all but this shake that is intended to lighten my liver up so they can lift it out of the way for the surgery.
I thought it was going to be the shake plus soup and protein bars but as it turns out it's just the shake breakfast lunch and dinner. Vanilla isn't bad but it's going to be a long haul with just that. Lots of stuff ruled out of the diet after my surgery too. No more beer as the carbonation causes problems. Though I drink Guinness pretty much exclusively, which uses nitrogen, it still may cause some problems. Ah but there is some luck here, Whisky is just fine after about six months when my stomach has healed up. Just have to learn my limits all over again as it goes right into the intestines and starts being absorbed instead of sloshing around in the stomach for a while. I will be a cheap date folks. just sayin. ![]() Rubbing and marinating chicken breast is becoming a big deal now with all this salad we're eating. Actually, baking it has brought about the most tender, juicy chicken we've had. (rotisserie aside) Resting and carving make a big difference too, far more than I thought it did before. One more nutrition class and I should be done with the assessment with my last nutrition class on the 11th. Then wait for the word from the doctor. Oh Bleat! |

I ate like the dickens! The best food ever and I don't feel guilty, but I DO have to get it under control!

RE: Love Food But Need To Lose Weight
Thursday night, stunned by the news about Andrew, I asked Ren Man if we could please hurry up on the treadmill. I need to be able to walk indoors as I've found the cold weather - wet or dry - makes my chest hurt when I breathe heavily. Friday night, he went and got us one; a $700 model for $100. It's in the living room now.
You see, Andrew was 6 years younger than we are. It's a sobering thing. I know from experience that my biggest problem is exercising. I work, either on ebay or making jewelry, sitting down. And, inertia being what it is.... Anyway, back in 2002, I came back from Hawai'i swearing that I would learn how to dance hula. So I found a local halau (hula school) and signed up. This was in September and by the following April I had lost about 20 pounds and 3 dress sizes. This just from moving - I didn't change my diet at all. I'd go to class once a week for 3 hours: the first hour was exercises and steps and then we'd learn/practice our dances. Every few weeks we'd do a show and I'd dance one number. And of course, I'd practice at home. By the time I had to stop, I'd lost 35 pounds. Then, in 2004, I began to have terrible dizzy spells and whooshing in my head. I couldn't dance any more. I have video of the last time I did and you can see me losing my balance. Then I was diagnosed with arthritis in my lower back (L4). My doctor gave me nortryptaline, hoping that would help my endorphins fight the pain. Well, it didn't work for the pain but it cleared up the whooshing and dizziness. We don't know why or what the problem is/was. Go figure. Of course, I gained that weight back. Even with walking when I was able (before the accident) I was beginning to drop some of it again. Then that woman hit us and I couldn't do anything for months! What I'm saying is that I've run into health problems that have prevented me from moving as much as I need to. I'm hoping that this treadmill (and an MP3 player with Bubba laying down the rhythm) will jump start me again. Gah. Sorry for the long sob story.

RE: Love Food But Need To Lose Weight
I hear ya gal! I used to be a workout fiend. My father had a triple bypass at 45. I was about 20 at the time and went on a "heart healthy" diet. Well, life happened and I ate all kind o' bad stuff. Still do, though i try to temper it with healthy eating. I can't help but feel that I'm a little off balance, especially from November to January.
