RE: Let's See Your Pets!!
Soooo today, my mother-in-law spins me a yarn about not seeing their elderly/kinda blind/mostly deaf cat for a few days. MIL figured "Rosie" (a creature of the outdoors) had wandered off into the woods to meet her Maker. My father-in-law found Rosie today in the yard. Welllll, her head... and a portion of her hindquarters, anyway. Seems her Maker was named "Coyote." Ahhhhh, country life.... RIP, Nosey Rosie. Sad

Blah blah blah....yada yada yada!

RE: Let's See Your Pets!!
The three of us just got back from Ms. K's first airplane ride (to Florida to see my parents) and we had no sooner landed in our car, eagerly anticipating the ride home and a nap in our own beds that my phone rang ... apparently, our Lhasa Apso (CocoBean) =, who has had some issues in the past (and one surgery) with Eye Ulcers had a small one that "melted" and her iris (or a small portion of it) is now external rather than internal. I know - EEEEEWWWW!

We have already paid, several years ago, to have the left eye repaired from a nearly ruptured eye from a melting ulcer (feel free to google it. Its a GROSS read). Now, the left one is even worse. Apparently, she can still see, and though we initially said, remove the eye at a cost of 1600$ the 2200$ to save he sight seems reasonable. Its a fascinating surgery to do this cornea graft, lots of micro surgery. Love my job, but I think I chose the wrong profession. Good thing the Vet has a payment/credit plan Smile Should be getting a call any min. now with an update and prognosis...

RE: Let's See Your Pets!!
Dropped off a trailer at a buddies house. Dub' hopped in the tail gate when I let him out of the cab.
Bill... my bud, was removing the hitch and Dublin huffed up and snarled at him. He's never done that to anyone that knew me.
I calmed him down and we were standing there talking, when Bill placed his foot up on the hitch bar... Dublin bit the hell out of his foot.
If Bill had not been wearing boots, Dub' would have drawn blood.
As it turns out, Bill has a German Shepherd.

RE: Let's See Your Pets!!
CocoBean is home and very much her normal self. A question for all the vets ... "when you tell me keep her calm and inactive", just how do I do that if A.) its not in her nature to be calm and inactive B.) you prescribe a pain medication that because she feels no pain, makes her think "she's OK"???? I say that but I need to also say that the vet started surgery at 8PM and called us at 9:30 with the run down. Also took her home last night to monitor her etc. Don't know if all vets do this but if you ever need an eye Doc for your non-human companion i cannot recommend her strongly enough!

Her eye looks like hell, but in the words of the vet "it will get redder, before it gets better". Still fascinated by the procedure and the fact that she actually has sutures in her cornea. All those perch I catch in the winter that get sold for medical research really came in handy i guess. Truly is amazing that she still has sight in that eye, quite good I might add even with all that trauma as she jumped into my Forester when I picked her up and she has NEVER jumped in before.

She just wolfed down her food with some Chix and rice on top ... guess her appetite is good, if she would only take a nap!

RE: Let's See Your Pets!!
Great, Counselor! Glad to hear she's doing so good. Maybe slip her some chamomile or other calming herb to get her to chill out? Or some Macallan... no, I don't think doggies can have that, can they? Wink

Give her a scritch for me.
