Jell-O: Variations on a Theme…
As I was perusing the forum, I realized that no one had started a thread about Jell-O!
![]() I am shocked and dismayed to find this gap in our cooking knowledge! Personally, I love Jell-O, I think because every big family meal had to have some sort of Jell-O dish, molded, whipped, whatever caught the makers fancy. I do have a picture of Jell-O I had while I was working in the mid-west. It was truly magnificent, simple yet surprisingly good! https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=...=3&theater Lime Jell-o with cellery, carrots, and crushed pineapple... (You could have lined a runway with that Jell-o and helped land planes the glo was so bright! )Does anyone have any good Jello recipes? "This is a standard queen outfit, then?" |

The only one I'm familiar with should go in 'The Bar' thread, but you simply cut the water mixture in half and substitute Grape Absolute Vodka for the other half, with grape flavored Jello of course. Works well with Kool-Aid as well!...Ok, I guess you could throw a lime or something edible and nutritious in there too!

This is too funny---I was thinking about Jello this morning! How good fresh raspberries from my garden would be with Jello and homemade whipped cream!
If I'd known you were French, I'd have worn galoshes... |

That would be yummy! My Mom used to make a mold with cherry Jell-o and cranberry-orange relish and walnuts. It was always a family favorite. ... in a world where I feel so small I can't stop thinking big! |

Ok here is a recipe I have in my book...
Jell-O Cheese Salad 1 6 oz package of Orange Jell-O 20 large Marshmallows 1 cup of crushed Pineapple(with it's juice) 1/2 cup of finely chopped Brazil nuts(almonds can also be used) 1 cup of hot Water 1 cup of finely shredded Sharp Cheddar Cheese 1/2 pint heavy Whipping Cream In a large bowl dissolve the jello then add in the marshmallows stirring until they are melted. Add in the cheese, pineapple, and the nuts mixing this well and then chill in the fridge until it is partially set. In another bowl whip up the cream until it has firm peaks and then fold it into the jell-o mix. You can pour this into a fancy bowl (or a mold if desired). Chill over night. Serve with extra whip cream. It makes enough to fill a 4 1/2 cup mold and serves 8 -10 people. If you can't play by OUR rules take your toys and go home!!
