RE: Listening to..(2)
Ok, I do not remember the sequence of events that led me to this vid, but by the time the chorus kicked in I was laughing so hard I fell out of my chair. No, literally. It's one of those office things with the five legs in star configuration - I leaned forward, it shot backward, I landed smack on my arse. Which just made me laugh harder.

Are you ready for this? 'Think you have absolutely heard it all? Heh-heh...

"Folk Metal," courtesy those wacky folks in Finland - "Happy Little Boozer" from a band called Korpiklaani.

They seem to have a pronounced affinity for alcoholic beverages, because they've got a song for every imaginable type. My fave is "Vodka" ("You will feel awesome!")

By way of a trifecta: someone synched scenes from Jackson's "Lord of the Rings" to their ditty "Beer Beer" with hilarious results...

'Strange Universe...
.

"Waiter...can you stop that noise? What you call 'music.' It sounds like dirty water. How can they eat food - and listen to ****?"

Spacey!!!!!

You made me laugh real good! This is hysterical and I don't think I'll ever be the same. Dude, you are totally funny for bringing this to everyone's attention. Now I've seen everything. I can die now. You rock man!

PS: I especially dig the antlers on the mic stand. Nice touch...

Unfortunately I can't say that I had. I went to youtube and grabbed the
first song I could find: Cuts You Up (1990). Sounded good to me,
it reminded me a little of early David Bowie ( whose voice I really like).

He did a cover of Ziggy Stardust back when he and Bauhaus were together that isn't to bad, their cover of it is a bit harsher, more cutting and edgy...but I enjoyed it.

I always thought of him and Bauhaus as one of the forefront bands as far as the originsl Goth sound goes, not the same as the newer sound that is out today.

I'm taking a ride with my best friend...I hope he never lets me down again.

Tonight's listening pleasure was also visual, a DVRed concert performance by Tori Amos aired on AXSlive.

Again, I don't know how I stumbled onto this band - likely the YouTube suggestions beside Korpiklaani because they too are from Finland. I'm a little past the malevolent-universe slam-metal phase and was never really into that whole Evanescence trip, but I've become a fanatical activist for the concept of melody, and... "Storytime" from Nightwish has a chorus melody that is simple but just amazing. It sounds like a Broadway musical set to crunch-rock, evocative of a million different facets of drama, storytelling, adventure, danger, wonder and sheer fascination. 'Just blew me away.

I hear you Brian. It's been blue here as well. The older I get the more I appreciate Floyd. The guitar solos are so sweet and melodic. One of the greatest guitar parts of all time in my humble opinion is the first solo of "comfortably numb." It makes me feel things I can't explain.
