Recipe Throw-Down!

RE: Recipe Throw-Down!
Good idea HWG. With Turkey Day around the corner it might be hard to sneak in a new recipe challenge if someone is making the family requested favorites.

I'm in. What about using a grill or smoker?

Well, if the original poster didn't use the grill or smoker in the recipe, then for your first try I'd say no.
But on the second try when you are modifing the recipe and making it your own, absolutely, why not! Big Grin

Maybe I'll join in the next one.

Good point Nettie! Does everyone want to wait till Nov 25th to start?
And for a timeline, do we want to do a 2 week window?
Meaning you have 2 weeks from the start date to make the original recipe and your modifications?

Yes, that would be better, I think. Does anyone have a recipe for Turkey Day leftovers? That might be a good place to start.

I like the idea Scythe, but I'm not hosting Turkey Day this year, so I won't have a big supply of leftovers to experiment with. If everyone wants to do that I know Safeway sells a roasted turkey breast in the hot case that would be a good substute for cooking an entire turkey.

While we wait for the 26th, if you all would scour the Grill for a recipe you'd like nominate for trial. Post a link back to the original here and then we'll pick.

RE: Recipe Throw-Down!
All righty kids! It looks like the first recipe we try is OHR's Apple pie!

http://www.neilpeart.net/bng_forum_beta/...hp?tid=811

Starting from today, you have untill December 10th to make the pie TWICE.
FIRST TIME, as per recipe, SECOND TIME, building on that baseline and putting in your additions to make it better if you can.
Post your recipe here when you're done!
So...on your mark....get set...GO! Big Grin

RE: Recipe Throw-Down!
This sounds like fun! I'll join in some time. I could never try to top my Mom's apple pie. FOR ME there is no other. She ruined it for everyone. But I'm sure it's good. It would not have been posted here if it wasn't.
